I've never used the auto assign myself...so I can't couche for it working. I might suggest that you FIRST save the Clinet file before you go to the included layout. By saving it, may make it accessible to the AD file. What I usually do is create a separate file to generate unique ID numbers for a file. Then I use an assign command when the related file is created...i.e. Create Client in the input layout. This does NOT automatically create a new AD file. Next, create a new AD file, either automatically upon a new Client file, or when the input AD layout is opened. (I test to see if the unique ID number filed is empty, if so I assign it the ONE file unique ID number). Next save the AD file. Hope this helps... --
