Nested CASE statements?

Are nested CASE statements allowed in FoxBASE+/Mac? I have a long bit of code which takes text options from scrolling windows and translates them into an alpha code which the database uses to organize the dbf. After the user selects a County from a scrolling window, the code runs a DO CASE until it reaches the CASE for that county's code. It then produces a second text window with localities to select from. Aftet selecting a locality, a nested CASE statement should return an appropriate code for that locality. But it doesn't. After exiting the primary CASE statement, the code merrily runs along and successfully returns the remaining codes (in this case, ward and precinct). But it just will not return the two digit alpha code for the locality from the nexted CASE statement. Is there another way to do this? Do I have to do a sub array (as in a menu program) in lieu of the nested CASE statements?
