A friend of mine is fairly new to Omnis and is having a problem. Using Omnis 7, he is having a client enter records into a database that he has set up. Thing go fine, until several hundred records are entered, then an error, "Attempted to read beyond end of file." comes up, the Mac bombs, and the data file is damaged. Any ideas on why this is happening? Is there anything to avoid in entering records that might overflow a storage area or something? Blyth tech support has been no help so far. Steve

We just had a similar problem with the program apparently unable to recognise the end of file. In this case things work fine on our development machine, but our enduser is a "cutting edge of technology" man with excessive amounts of RAM, System 7, and other things we don't use for development. I'm afraid this doesn't help, but then we have no leads either. >Blyth tech support has been no help so far. What I've come to expect - admittedly in Australia the distibutors are a more direct problem than Blyth, which is somewhat remote from us. >Steve Les

In a previous article, SJD9@psuvm.psu.edu () says: > >Blyth tech support has been no help so far. > >Steve > That does not surprise me !! the tech support there is so bad , that they now refuse to return my calls anymore. it would have been ok if they just admit to me they don't know anything about omnis, but what pi__es me is they still PRETEND to be omnis expert! (them not knowing omnis may be an overstatement, it should have been they don't know anything about computers). I think blyth is the company with the worst business ethics that I have dealt with.
