Hello,
I'm sorry if this is a FAQ [They just purged this BBoard], but does
anyone have the specs for 4D 3.0 ??? In particular, I need to know
about the differences between 4D 3.0 and it's older version 2.0. Are
they compatible?
Thanks,
---

4th Dimension version 3.0 and 4D server are upward compatible with 4D v2.0. There are some commands that have vanished like Sort File and a lot has been added especially the ones handling processes. After 10th September a lot of information should be available. Best, Sami. ***************************************************************************** *** Sami Hero - managing director of HeroCom *** *** "Effective use of the best Database system - 4th Dimension will *** *** put us into leading position in Finland's Consulting business" ***

David,
4D 3.0 will run 4D 2.x databases with minimal conversion effort. The major
problems occur with externals that may not be compatible with 4D 3.0.
However, 4D 3.0 is a completely different animal. It has its own
multi-tasking kernels--you can have multiple asynchronous
processes running, and multiple active windows open.
