database wanted for bibliography

I've had little use for a database until now, but I find that I have a growing
need for something to keep track of my growing library of photocopies of
journal articles. (I'm a graduate student in cognitive psychology, so I'm
collecting these things at an alarming rate.) Any suggestions on what to use?
I saw a Hypercard stack on sumex-aim that looked promising, but it doesn't
really suit my purposes (I want to be able to search for ANY author of a paper,
and this database only had one author field, just for starters). I'm not very
concerned with how neatly the data lines up or anything; I just want to be able
to search for an author, title, or subject, and find out everything else I've
entered, including (most importantly) where I've stored the full paper.

I was thinking that one of the integrated packages, like ClarisWorks or
GreatWorks, might suit my purposes for a relatively low price, but I'm not
positive of that. What about a specialized bibliography database? Would one
of those provide any advantages over something cheaper? Does anybody know of a
PD or shareware program that might help me?

I'll try to keep up with this newsgroup for a couple of weeks; after that,
please e-mail responses. Thanks for any help.

I'm using EndNote for my dissertation. It is a bibliography database
and makes the job much easier than general purpose databases. It
includes some standard styles for formatting your references or
you can make your own. Also integrates with word processors to
automatically number your citations. Highly recommended.
