There are about 500 members in my user group, with each record
consisting of name and address. I would like to create a detailed
printout listing the unique zipcodes and the count of member's zip
that match the unique zipcode. An example of printout would be like:
Zipcode Count
------- -----
20850 34
20874 11
20877 48
20879 33
: :
For every instance of zipcode 20850 in Filemaker Pro database, the count
would be incremented. Is there any way I can do it other than creating
a new field for each unique zipcode and put in calculatin...?
Thanks for any help.

Yup they are called Summary fields. What you do is create a field
called Zip Count or something, and designate it as a summary field that
performs a count. Then you sort by zipcode and put in a sub summary part
in a layout with this field in it, and it will count up the records in
each zipcode breakdown.
