I have a Macintosh running Filemaker (1.0v2) under system 6.0.7. I would like to export Filemaker data in a summarised format. E.g. if I have a (simple) database that looks like this: Product Tonnes Cold Rolled 71 Hot Rolled 25 Hot Rolled 10 I would like to be able to produce a *file* (cf a report) that looks like this: Product Tonnes Cold Rolled 71 Hot Rolled 35 My understanding is that Filemaker (1.0v2) will only export individual records. One suggestion made by an IBM person is that I find out if there is a Macintosh print driver which will print an ascii file to disk, then print a copy of a layout in the appropriate format. Is this possible, or is there an alternative? Paul.

FileMaker Pro 1.0v3 may not be able to help you but FM Pro 2.0 is expected
to be able to export summary data. Has anyone gotten their upgrade yet?

According to the "What's New in FileMaker Pro (2.0)" booklet, "You can now export summary data. Summary data is based on the current sort order and found set. FM Pro lets the user choose fields to summarize by and gives the user the ability to specify the export order. See Chapter 8, "Exchanging information," in the FileMaker Pro (2.0) User's Guide." So it looks like you can do this if you upgrade to 2.0, which I guess I would recommend anyway. Hope this helps... Bradley D.
