Do-it-yourself dialog-type boxes in FMP2.0 scripts?

Is there any way to pop up a do-it-yourself dialog box in FMP2.0?
I have a script that will only work correctly if the user selects a record to
start from (in a view as list type of layout) before running the script.
I'd like to put a message like "select a line to start from and push the OK
button" at the begining of the script.
Because the script does a find / relookup, the results would be ugly if
it occured on the wrong (older) records.
Also, thanks to Nick and Laurie for their assistance on my previous
question.

Directly, no, there's no way. In FileMaker Pro 2.0, you can, however, set
up a layout that displays your message in the Body, with no fields on the
layout, and specify that FileMaker Pro go to that layout upon startup (in
the preferences). I usually place a button on that layout that sends people
into Find mode, or, maybe in your case, into a layout that's being Viewed as
List.

I'm always happy to help out the people of Internetland, who have helped me
out so many times before...

I may work in Claris Technical Support, but not when I'm logged in on
