I am looking for a database that can be accessed by some means programmatically from programs written in THINK Pascal. Its use is primarily for storing genetic information on pedigrees so that it can be accessed to set up linkage analysis program runs. Does one exist? Any suggestions appreciated. I have looked at Excel and Filemaker Pro and they don't seem to do the job. I am not a database specialist but can write most types of software. Many thanks, David Huen Dept. of Cancer Studies Univ. of Birmingham e-mail: HUENSD@VAX1.BHAM.AC.UK

Depending on your power requirements, you may find the 4D/MSI Access route interesting. 4D is very powerful, and using either MSI Access from Metropolis Software, or the new, expensive 4D Server, can be accessed from Pascal or even Hypercard with relatively simple calls. Chuck
