FileMaker Pro troubles

I have a problem in my FileMakerPro 2.0 Database:

I have one Database which contains products, another which contains orders, and
a third which contains files in which i calculate the cost derivated from the
products and orders.

PRICE = PRODUCT * QTY ORDERED

If I wanna calculate the price, do I have to copy every product and qty
ordered in my database, or is there a function which makes direct reference to
another database ?

Thanx for ur support.

Why have you chosen to use 3 files for this? Couldn't you just
calculate the costs within the file that contains the orders? This could
possibly make your life a little easier.

Actually, what you want to use are lookup fields. These fields
perform the function you are looking for, but they are not live direct
links between the files. If you have some prices in the file already
calculated, and then that price changes in the product file (which is
where I'm assuming you have the product prices stored) you will have to
tell the lookup fields in the other file that use that product's price
to go and get the current price.
