4th Dimension questions

I'm very new to programming in databases in general and 4th Dimension in
general and have several questions.

1. Is there a way to copy fields? I have a few databases which
have the same setup but only one character difference in the
name and it would be nice to be able to just input the first
set and then copy and modify the rest.

2. Is there a way to set up a 1 character alphanumeric field?
according to what I've read so far, alpha fields must be at
least 2 characters long and I need this one to only allow one
    character.

I think 4D Mover may be able to help you here, but there is an additional
cost involved.

You can add an Entry Filter to your input layout to restrict the entry to
a single Alpha character. See Design Reference (DR) 149-155 (v.2) or
DR5-27 to 5-35 (v.3) for more info on creating custom entry filters.
