This is a tested & certified Apple CPU card, works perfectly. NO RESERVE PRICE!!! The PowerPC 604 processor will give your system a boost and and speed your daily computations, video, audio, etc. The PowerPC 604 is about 50% faster than the PowerPC 601 chips! The upgrade card also allows you to retain your investment in existing hard disk drives and RAM. So keep pace with the times: Get a 604 upgrade card. A nice card if you have an older Mac. $8 is about right (the auction started at $1). Almost bid on it until I saw the catch: shipping rape. "Winning bidder pays a set packing and shipping, packing and handling charge of $19 anywhere in the mainland 48 States." An Apple processor card weighs a wee bit under 1 pound. Add a boatload of packing peanuts and a free priority-mail box... shipping is $5.75 with free delivery confirmation. Add another $1.30 for insurance... As a long-time eBay seller, I find this type of gouging unacceptable. In fact, it's against eBay rules - it's fee avoidance. I didn't turn 'em in tho - he's a newbie. Hopefully, he'll learn... - Dan. -- - Psychoceramic Emeritus <mailto:darmok@punkass.com> - South Jersey, USA, Earth <http://cronus.spaceports.com/~darmok>

Not really. It's actually the card that *came with* some versions of the 7600. Most of the computers it would work in are already faster. All the computers he listed in the "works with" section originally came with 604s running at anywhere from 150-350MHz. How does a 604/132 help? Only as a replacement for a processor failure. so this is essentially a replacement part for a set of computers any of which can be had whole hog for under $100. > $8 is about right (the auction > started at $1). I don't think it's unreasonable to add in an extra $5-10 for handling, especially on an item that's not going to sell for much. If I'm selling some parts, I don't want to deal with the hassle of shipping for nothing if my item only sells for a few bucks. I'd rather have not sold it. > As a long-time eBay seller, I find this type of gouging unacceptable. > In fact, it's against eBay rules - it's fee avoidance. You know darn well those don't cost more than $20-30 to ship even with packing material Michael -- Michael Sullivan Business Card Express of CT Thermographers to the Trade Cheshire, CT michael@bcect.com

There is no way the card is OSX compliant, as you mentioned most of the mentioned machines already have a faster card in them from the factory....the 7600,8600, and the9600. So all in all it's the reason usenet sometimes make me cringe. Buyer beware...be very aware.

there is no need for such foul language. Have a little class, will you? You can get your point across without having to show everyone that you live in a trailer and were born in a barn. For those who did not take the time to view the auction, and actually research XPostFacto, YES, this CPU card DOES work with OS X, and YES, I have RUN OS X ON THIS CARD! http://eshop.macsales.com/OSXCenter/XPostFacto/ "While Apple has limited its support for Mac OS X to those machines that originally came with a G3 or G4 processor, it is possible to install Mac OS X on some earlier machines. The unsupported machines that work now are the 7300, 7500, 7600, 8500, 8600, 9500 and 9600, as well the clones that were based on one of these systems (the Umax S900 and J700, and the Power Computing PowerWave and PowerTower Pro). Other models that use the PCI architecture may be made to work in time. Version 2.2 of XPostFacto adds limited support for the original Powerbook G3, the 3400, and the 2400. I can drive my car with all four wheels flat, but that doesn't mean I should put it up for sale and describe it as a good runner.
