As you can very well see the mac smokes the 90-mhz pc with nt 4 and win
95, EXCEPT file save and open. This is a known achilles tendon in the
Mac system software, where file operations are not fully powerpc native.
On the other tests the Mac is faster (of course it is, it's a 150mhz
604, the equivalent of a pentium 100)

Of course the Mac 150mhz 604 (e?) loses out to a dual processor 200-mhz
pentium pro.... whaddya expect?

From what I see it was very convenient that the display of the results
in the original message put the Mac side by side to the dual processor
results. Talk about biased presentation.

You should look closely at the test results and see for yourself.

Anyway for the most critical operations the Mac tested is faster. How
many times a day do you open and save complete files?

For the crashing Macs, what model are they? If they're the LC models
then it's not fair to compare them to Win95 behemoths. Would you compare
a 486-33 to a pentium? Which one is faster? The pentium? Oooh, the it
must be the "better" machine.

If they crash a lot and startup in 3 (!!!!????) minutes, then there's
definitely something wrong with them. Don't be so biased to overlook
that the Win95 PeeCees might be well tended to (which they sorely need),
while the Macs aren't even cared for. huh, of course it crashes each
time when you don't take care of it.

In a friend's office there's this 8500 they use for production work.
They spill coffee on the keyboard, they don't defrag the disk, they
switch it off by pulling the plug when they don't know how to restart,
they put loads and loads and loads of extensions in the system folder
and on and on the misuse. Then when every time the system hangs they say
"well, it's not very stable is it?"

But they say that it's a much nicer machine than the wintel boxes, which
need configuring and maintenance and tender loving care when a illegal
instruction error or IRQ conflict occurs, or it just can't access the
server for god knows once in a while.
