MENLO PARK, Calif. October 3, 1995 -- inTouch Technologies announced
today that JPEG Transmogrifier, the first ever Macintosh utility for
the Macintosh to create progressive JPEGs, is now available.

Progressive JPEGs are the latest file format to be supported widely by
World Wide Web browsers. Progressive JPEGs feature slightly smaller
file size than baseline JPEGs as well as interlaced display.

Up until today, tools for generating progressive JPEGs have largely
been developed for unix platforms. With JPEG Transmogrifier, however,
the world of progressive JPEGs has finally arrived for Macintosh
developers and users.

With a simple user interface, users of the JPEG Transmogrifier can
easily convert PICTs, GIFs, and baseline JPEGs to progressive JPEG
format. The Transmogrifier creates baseline JPEGs as well.

The 1.0b1 release of the software is currently available at
http://www.in-touch.com/pjpeg.html. This beta release expires on
December 1, 1995. Subsequent to that date, JPEG Transmogrifier will be
available as shareware for $11.99.
