Harddisk in G3/bw/IDE + 9500/ ATA33...

Hi folks
I have a question concerning strange behaviour of a WD 600 harddisk:
a friend had it built in to a G3/BW, there the disk started making
trouble, freezing during startup, FirstHelp and Norton DiDo told us
problems in Directory-area, reformating was still possible, whenever we
tried a block test or other physical integrity tests the Mac quitted
freezing. So we kicked the WD and built in a new harddisk, everything
turned to normal.
Now I connected the WD to my ATA33-controller in my old 9500,
reformatted again, copied some stuff to it and tested with the same
apps, no problem !!
Any idea what may cause that?
Are there areas which won't be touched by the ATA33 (which is SCSI seen
from system) but may effect errors on a IDE bus??
Could it be any hardware bug on the BW?
Is it really possible a harddisk may function on one controller without
probs though having physical disfunctional areas when connected to
another?

Please help us understand the "wonderful healing process" of that
harddisk!

Thanx in advance
Frank

Moin Leute
Untergangsszenario. Initialisieren ging immer noch, dann war Schlu.
Neue Platte gekauft, alles lief.

Frank
