We've struck a bit of an odd one ...

Our school has just purchased an Astra 610S scanner, but try as we might
we cannot get our G3 desktop Mac to recognise it.

A friend had had similar problems with his UMAX Vista on his 8500, and
we got it working by installing the UMAX drivers from OmniPage 8 and
reselecting the new driver from the chooser. Alas, this trick doesn't
seem to work with the G3 (running OS 8.1).

Any suggestions, kind net.wizards?
