Epson 1270 printing

Hi there,

Has anyone experienced printing quality problems with the relatively new
Epson Photo 1270 inkjet printer?

While printing bitmap images produces beautiful reproductions, vector
artwork looks crap. What happens is that artwork printed directly from
Illustrator produces anti-aliasing effects on the print - as if it were
printing from Photoshop.

I'm aware that the 1270 is not a postscript printer, but that shouldn't be a
problem from printing from Illustrator. My old Epson Stylus II never
produced anti-aliased artwork prints from Illustrator, neither does my
University's Photo 1200. I've upgraded to the latest Epson driver's
released just the other day. No change.

Running MacOS 9.04 on a blue & white G3 350 with 256meg of RAM. Any
answers?

Thanks in advance.

No solutions, but an identical problem. I had assumed that it was because
Illustrator eps files require a postcript interpreter to print cleanly,
and that a software RIP would be the only solution. Tried a demo version
and it works perfectly (with DEMO plastered across the printout).

Perhaps the change is in Illustrator. I am using version 8.0.

Hope there is a cheap solution, because I am now rasterising Illustrator
files using Photoshop.

I shouldn't have to buy a bloody RIP to get print outs from Illustrator as
good as my old Stylus II did!

I'm using 8.01.

I can't help but feel there's a bug in the driver. I'd like to test
printing from Illustrator from a PC, and see if the same problem occurs.
Otherwise, I find this inexcusable for a printer that cost me a grand.

I have used both the 760 and 860(?) range and they produce excellent
pictures. Once I did something wrong with the settings and the effect
was terrible. How much have you tinkered with the settings? Also, I got
the latest printer driver for one of them from the Epson site - you
might look there for a new one. It improved performance for that
printer. There shouldn't really be a problem with the postscript files.
