Installing 2nd ATA Drive in G4

Please excuse me if this is a terminally stupid question, but...

I want to install a 2nd ATA drive into my G4, a 20Gb IBM Deskstar. I've
read the instructions in the booklet that came with the computer, but the
bracket that sits in drive position #3 is wider at the top than at the
bottom where the first drive is located. Is there some kind of extra
bracket that I need to purchase in order to fit the second drive into the
top position of drive position #3? The current bracket is - deliberately,
it seems to me - about 3-4mm too wide to accommodate the drive.

Do I use longer screws? I'm reluctant to do this in case I damage the
drive? A friend told me that the apple service place that installed her
second drive simply bent the existing bracket to take her second drive,
but this seems an incredibly clumsy kludge to me - why is the bracket
designed that wide if it needs to be bent to hold the drive?

Puzzled,

Julie
