That's one thing I REALLY like about having it hooked up to my Mac...I do consulting and when I need to set my client's computers, I just hook up my Zip drive...I have ALL the things I need (System 7.5, System 7.5.1 Update, HD utils/formatters/etc, popular software, etc...) in Disk Image format and I just boot up using the Zip and install what I need and what the client purchased (as far as software)...MUCH faster than using floppy installs or even a CD-ROM...also, when I boot for the zip, I can do what I want to the internal hard drive because is NOT the boot drive... I can unmount, reformat, repair, install w/o having to reboot (for like NSI, ATM, etc...any program that forces you to reboot after install) On a tangent.... I hope that the Zip becomes "standard" equipment as far as mass media goes...the Floppy disk REALLY, REALLY, REALLY needs to be put out to pasture...in 1995 (the era of 25+ disk programs), 1.4 Megs of storage is REALLY useless...a low cost 25/100 Meg unit is ideal. Also better than CD-ROM in some cases... For example, say I buy Photoshop 3.01 and it comes on one 25 Meg Zip disk instead of a CD-ROM...when Photoshop 3.1 or whatever comes out, I can reformat my Zip disk and USE IT. Unlike a CD-ROM, after v3.1+ comes out, the CD-ROM just becomes 100% useless (which adds to the worldwide trash collection which leads to global warming...uh..nevermind)...well, I guess you can re-use old CD-ROMs for super-geeky coasters :) logix@primenet.com
