Hi, Over the last month or so I've read a few posts in these newsgroups about MacWarehouse and Zip drives. In case it helps anyone, here, briefly, is my experience: An initial enquiry to MacWarehouse led to a reply that there was a wait on the drives and an even longer one on the disks. What the hell, they're impossible to get here (and damned expensive when they do turn up), so I ordered a drive and 10 disks via e-mail on 25 August. The next day I got a reply confirming the order and quoting an expected delivery time of 7-10 days for the drive and 15-30 for the disks. Add to that shipping to New Zealand, and you get a month at best (end of September). After reading a few posts about disks and drives arriving damaged I e-mailed MacWarehouse again and asked if they could ensure that the goods were adequately packed as they would be travelling half-way across the globe (and you can't get much further than that!). Again, the next day I got a reply saying that my order had been annotated with a request to take extra care when packing, and with an updated delivery time (same time for the drive; a slip of a couple of weeks for the disks). Today (20 September) my drive AND 10 disks arrived. (In fact they were in the country on 15 September, but took some time to clear Customs). All work fine and one disk has a small crack in the case (order a music CD from a company on the other side of town and half the time it arrives with a crack in the case, so I'm not complaining!). To sum it up, my experience with MacWarehouse has been nothing but great. I wish that I could get such good service from a lot of local companies, especially at the price. It's unrealistic, I believe, to expect impeccable service 100% of the time. There are so many things beyond the control of the person or organisation providing that service that all YOU end up getting is an ulcer and having to try another company (until they, too, strike it unlucky with their staff/suppliers/service providers, etc.). However, it IS reasonable to expect people and organisations to STRIVE for impeccable service 100% of the time. *Those* are the companies I will support. Thank you MacWarehouse. If you want to deal with the people I dealt with, here's their e-mail sig (they're at "Micro/MacWAREHOUSE, INC." <70007.1340@compuserve.com>) > ED Camilo, Allan Eclarinal, & Alice Platt > Mac/MicroWAREHOUSE Online Services > > Main Phone# 908-370-3801 Ext. 3388 or 6909 > > Fax # 908-905-1135 Attn: Online Services Dept. > > Internet Information: > Email: 70007.1340@COMPUSERVE.COM (PC) OR 70007,1616@COMPUSERVE.COM (MAC) > WWW WEBSITE: "HTTP://WWW.WAREHOUSE.COM" And, no, I didn't get a discount and I'm not and never have been an employee of MacWarehouse or any associated company I'm just getting sick of posts from people who have someting to whinge about!
