It works fine there UNLESS I POWER IT DOWN. Ted, I have often been able to get by with leaving power off on temporarily unused devices, such as a Seagate h.d. and a cd-rom drive. But I was never sure that it would work until I tried it. Is it written in stone somewhere that an unpowered SCSI device must be invisible to the bus? Maybe certain drives are designed with line drivers/line receivers that must be powered up to present a reasonable load to the bus, i.e. the design assumes that if the drive is connected, it will be powered up. On any server or critical equipment, I leave all attached external devices powered at all times, on my pc's I sometimes leave stuff off. Any other opinions? Norbert Kremer norbert@mail.htp.com
