WANTED: Mac drivers for Denon DRD-253 CD-ROM drive

I have an external Denon CD-ROM drive (SCSI-1) that I want to use with
a Mac IIcx (upgraded to 68030) running System 7.5. The Apple driver
doesn't recognize it, and the original software is long gone.

Neither Denon nor their support contractor (Optical Media) have copies
of the drivers anywhere, they say.

If you have this software, or a generic driver that can recognize
a standard-command-set SCSI CD-ROM drive, please reply by email to
<james.w.smith@msfc.nasa.gov>. Or if you want to donate a better
drive, that's okay too. :) Thanks.

Now, I'm a PC person by trade, so don't flame/blame me if I'm completely wrong.

My experience with the extension "Apple CD-ROM" is that it only supports
Applce CD drives :(

FWB's CD-ROM ToolKit supports AFAIK any CD drive. This will show up in the
extension folder as "FWB CD-ROM Toolkit" I do believe. This is copyrighted
software, but it is bundled with many third-party (e.g.) non-Apple CD drives,
so your local dealer should have it cheap.

In fact, I've got that software for my 3-d party CD drive. If you get
"stuck" or want to "test before you buy," send me e-mail. I've got my
PowerBook 140 with the software and we can hook-up to the CD drive and see
if it flies.
