    Regarding the formatting of double in MacApp, look at subroutine
 pascal void TCell::ValueToString()
in file "MacApp:Examples:CPlusExamples:Calc:UCalcCells.cp"
 
also look at the SANE.h file for the interface to
   num2dec(theFormat, aValueType, aDecimal);
   dec2str(theFormat, aDecimal, aCString);
 
Further explanations of these routines can be found in the Apple Sane Manual
2nd edition
