  If you can possibly get away with it, I would look at using tab delimited
text instead of strict Excel format - Excel has the right to change w/o notice,
and probably will. Tab delimited can't really change all that much.
 
  If you need examples of exporting tab delimited text, take a look at the Calc
example program.
