LDataBrowser (again!)

Hi all,

I have modified LDataBrowser (sample from the old Apple Carbon SDK)
and is running this in a Mach-O PowerPlant app in 10.3.3.

Sorting works, text editing works, fonts & TextTraits works. And even
custom databrowser items start to work.

But I still have some problems remaining. When the LDataBrowser is
placed inside another Control, like LTextGroupBox, LTabsControl or
similar, strange things happen.

1) The dropping of columns (to reorder them) stops working. Dragging
works, but the dragged column snaps back to its' original position
immideately.
Accoring to Carbon-Developers Mailing list, this has been filed in
radar as bug #2849287. However, I don't know how to look this up and
find out if there is any workaround.

I have called SetAutomaticControlDragTrackingEnabledForWindow().

2) Keyboard menu-handling (Cut, Paste, Select All, etc) doesn't work.

3) Dragging data into the browser doesn't work...

Has anybody managed to fix LDataBrowser's functionality inside other
controls?
Can adding of Carbon Event-handlers help?
Can anyone also explain the technical reason for this behaviour?

I have tried to dump the Control Hierarchy with
::DumpControlHierarchy(), but I can't see any difference between a
databrowser not embedded into another control (i.e that works) and a
databrowser embedded in a LTextGroupBox (that doesn't work).

I whish I could turn to PPx, but since PPx doesn't have support for
DataBrowser yet, nor PPx is ready for serious development IMO, it's no
option.

I wish I could turn to Cocoa, but that would require rewriting the
most of the app... Such a mess.
