Hi, I just bought an Apple Powerbook 5300 and a PCMCIA TDK 28.8 modem. The modem responds and connects fine, but after a few seconds of connection the machine freezes and I have to reset it. I called TDK (I also sent them email, but management hasn't figured out yet that it would be cheaper to staff their email assistance than their phone assistance). They are aware of the problem and are working with Apple to fix it. I said I would return the card and try a different one. The fellow, who sounded honest and knowledgeable, said that I was likely to have the same problem with other cards. I hope this information is useful to someone. ---Luigi
