Perhaps but that is unfortunate. From mail order you can get a 3400 200
for $2995 NEW!! (check back of macweek)
1) 3400 200 is about twice as fast as the crippled 1400 (note, i checked
this, see bellow)
2) 3400 200 has ETHERNET and 33.k modem built in ($400 value)
3) 3400 200 has BIGGER active matrix screen $??? value
4) 3400 200 comes with extra 32 megs ram and free battery ($500 value
5) 3400 200 has 2 gig hard drive instead of 1 gig of 1400 ($300?? value)

3400 200 scores 309 in macbench, power 1400 scores 114. And yet loonies
will pay $2k for a 1400c? USED?? So subtracting the extras of the 3400
200, we have a portable with a bigger active matrix screen, NEW!! with 12
month warranty, several STEREO SPEAKERS, for $1800 when adjusted in price
and it is almost 3 times as fast as a 1400 c??????
