Couldn't agree more--the prices should be much lower considering what new,
faster PowerBooks are going for.  Seems very similar to buying a new
car--as soon as it's in your possesion, its value drops dramatically.
$1000 is not unreasonable for a 1400c, when you compare it to a new
machine--and it is not too far fetched to think that a seller might
realize this and advertise accordingly.  This in spite of the countless
over priced machines listed on this news group.

What makes it even worse, is the "Mac OS 8 installed" (add additional
software titles here) sales pitch.  Installed software without legal
ownership adds no value to the machine and is not ethical. 

Not trying to single anyone out, but I think I recall a recent post in
which someone with a $2000 1400c made such a sales pitch.  Sellers should
cut this practice out!  Otherwise, the purchaser of a machine with
unlicensed software is the one who should 'wear oven mitts.'
