When you say "won't mount", do you mean that it doesn't notice when
you put a CD in the drive ?  If so, then I'd make sure that you have
an Extension called 'Apple CD-ROM' in your extensions folder.  You
should also make sure that you don't have drivers for any other
CD-ROM drives or removable hard disks: sometimes they interfere with
the proper driver.

The other thing to suspect is the cable.  Can you try it on another
setup ?  Don't try to use it to connect the PowerBook to a desktop
Macintosh -- it's not meant to work like that.  The way you describe
your terminator setup looks correct, but just for a lark, try it
without the terminator.
