I've ran CW 6 and CW 7 (and CW 5.3) on the same machine since CW 7 came 
out and even before that.  I've also ran them simultaneously at the same 
time.

My first suggestion is you go to the preferences and trash the 
Metrowerks preferences and see if that cures the ills.  I'd also rebuild 
the desktop when booting up.

If that doesn't fix it let me know maybe I can think of something else.  
It certainly works just fine.
