I think however it is just a request. A .sit file is plain binary, with no resource forks. Simply tell users to upload a their .sit as plain binary and everyone will be happy. hqx re-encodes a file in a 7-bit format. It's a hangover from the days before the net was 8-bit clean -- my advice is to forget it. These days, it just bloats files for no good reason. You wouldn't ask anyone to uuencode a .gz or .zip file, would you? It's the same argument.
