Apple's performance doc mentions to use Darwin's malloc over NewPtr. What libs do I link with to get their malloc and not one that MW has provided in the MSL? Steve

Darwin's malloc is OS X, I believe with our Native C tools we will use the Darwin C library so you will have that. Ron -- CodeWarrior for Linux v6 with Java for x86 and PowerPC is Shipping!! You don't. Apple's advice mostly applies to applications built with PorjectBuilder. For CodeWarrior is possible by using CoreFoundation's Bundle services to load the symbols by hand from System.framework, but that's not worth the effort. meeroh -- You can get random signatures if you put text files into a folder called "Random Signatures" in your Preferences folder.

So does the MW malloc make sure that everything is page aligned, and does calloc do the zeroing down in the VM layer? Steve

Not yet, I believe. However, what makes you think this is a significant performance penalty for your code? meeroh -- Using random signatures is as simple as putting text files into a folder called "Random Signatures" in your Preferences folder.

The alignment for malloc is currently at 16 bytes. calloc simply calls memset on the block of memory. -- Howard Hinnant Metrowerks
