Metrowerks & WWDC 2005

Last year Metrowerks admitted that they screwed up by not attending
last year's WWDC. They swore up and down that they will continue
supporting the Macintosh, and last year's hiccup was just an isolated
event.

Now WWDC is just around the corner again. I see two possibilities for
Metrowerks now:

1. Metrowerks will be present and visible at WWDC 2005. Not only will
they have a vendor booth, they will also have engineers in attendance,
and possibly even a lunchtime session. They will be working hard to
reverse the impression made last year and will be very interested in
getting developer feedback for this year's CodeWarrior 10. They are
planning killer new features to take advantage of the
soon-to-be-released Tiger Operating System, and their 64-bit compiler
will be second to none.

2. Metrowerks will again be a no-show at WWDC. No vendor booth, no
engineers, nothing. They have little interest in keeping up with the
Mac, and will just make more excuses as to why they are not attending
again this year. They may produce a minor update in 2005 and call it
"CodeWarrior 10", but it will not have any of the powerful Tiger
features. In fact, they are just as likely to cancel the Macintosh
product altogether given how much they have already lost to Xcode.

So guys, which is it going to be? WWDC sessions and special events are
already being posted.

To save time, you can use silence as a way of answering with #2.

I think you have a pretty good assessment but there are other
alternatives. But I think your point and I aggee is that we need to
have something tangible to show at WWDC in order to continue in this
market.

By the way I was out of town until today which is why I didn't reply
sooner.

Ron

Hi Ron,

Yes, there are other alternatives, but here's hoping #1 comes to pass.
:-)

By the way, can you say yet what Metrowerks' plans are for WWDC yet, or
are they yet to be announced/decided?

Thanks,

Jonathan Hoyle

So does this mean MW is doing anything an WWDC or not? :) Sounds like
MW is not decided.
