C++ Language:
* Rewritten string class with short string optimization, not refcounted.
* Optimized vector for user classes with trivial special members
* New bitvector, specialized case of <vector>bool
* File I/O can be configured to run off of C or POSIX underpinnings
* The default file I/O is based on FILE* but you can now configure
fstream to be based on POSIX I/O. (longer files can be supported)
* New experimental classes from the first C++ technical report under
namespace std::tr1. (not standard yet but likely will be in the future)
* template <class Sig> class result_of
* template <class T> class reference_wrapper
* template <class T> reference_wrapper<T> ref(T& t)
* template <class T> reference_wrapper<const T> cref(const T& t)
* template <class Sig> class function
* template<class T> class shared_ptr
* template<class T> class weak_ptr
* template<class T> class enable_shared_from_this
* template <class T0, class T1, ... class T9> class tuple
* New Metrowerks::threads implementation (similar to boost)

Will PPx work properly if pthreads are used instead?

PPx doesn't require pthreads or Metrowerks::threads. There are no
threading/networking classes included with this version of PPx.
