Sherlock and OSX

Help! I am running OSX 10.0.3 with a 256Mb dual processor G4/450. Sherlock works fine in a local search mode but will not search the internet. I have checked my internet settings with our IT people and all seems to be OK. What happens is that when I start a search the green icon turns red but no progress activity bar appears. A second click on the now red icon causes the progress bar to appear but nothing ever happens. I must then force quit Sherlock. All my other OSX internet applications function correctly, including MS Explorer, Software Update, and Fetch. However, in what may be a related issue, none of the on-line Apple help options work. For example, the four options of the Late Breaking News do not link to the external help site. Have any others experienced this behaviour and/or are there any suggestions for a solution to the problem? John Traeger Department of Chemistry La Trobe University Melbourne Australia
