Hi,

I'm attempting to learn to program Macs using Mac Oberon Lite. I';m
having a problem getting it to deal with Update Events using the following
code:-

MODULE ORDER;

IMPORT
    SYSTEM, TB:= MacToolbox, MT:=MacMoreToolbox, ME:=MacMemory,
TE:=MacText, IM:=MacImaging, MF:=MacFiles, MP:=MacProcesses,
MO:=MacOSUtils;

[SNIP]

REPEAT
   gotEvent:=TB.WaitNextEvent(TB.everyEvent, event, 0, NIL);
   CASE  event.what OF
   |TB.updateEvt:
      thiswindow:=SYSTEM.VAL(TB.WindowPtr, event.message);
      TB.BeginUpdate(thiswindow);

(*PUT IT IN LATER*)

      TB.EndUpdate(thiswindow)

   | TB.mouseDown:   (*The Mouse Was Clicked *)

etc.....

The mousedown event is handled perfectly, but the updateEvt isn't
recognised at all. Putting a sysbeep in the updateEvt code indicates that
it simply isn't executed.

So, am I going wrong or is there a problem in the compiler? I've had
problems before with importing constants.

TIA

Don't underestimate the abacus......it requires no power, can be made with any materials you have to hand, and never goes bing in the middle of an important piece of work. (Many thanks to Douglas Adams.)
