I'm sure this question has been asked before, but I couldn't find the
info I needed via searching...
I have an idea for a small utility that would work great in the menu bar
in OS X (like the volume control or display control). I've heard them
called both Menu Extra's, and Menu-lings (I like menu-ling better). I would
like to keep it out of the dock. IMO the dock is already too cluttered and
virtually useless for someone who uses a lot of apps.
I was wondering if anyone knows where I can find some sample code, or
API I can use to create a menu-ling? I have seen some commercial apps that
have them, so I would guess that the API's would be public, but haven't seen
anything on Apple's Dev site about it. Searching through the Universal
Interfaces didn't yield much info either... Any help would be great...
Thanks...

It's emulates the Classic Mac OS-style application menu and comes with source.

Thanks for the info... That sounds like exactly what I need... Only problem is when I try to download the source, I get a connection failure. I've tried it with Netscape (via Classic), IE and Interarchy (on OS X). The download server won't let me connect... I'll try again tomorrow... Thanks again... --Rob On 1/8/02 4:52 AM, in article bob-0801020452590001@12-236-56-107.client.attbi.com, "Bob Bradley" <bob@chaoticsoftware.com> wrote: > In article <B8600E7A.C32%petrock99-NOSPAM@hotmail.com>, petrock99 > <petrock99-NOSPAM@hotmail.com> wrote: > >> I'm sure this question has been asked before, but I couldn't find the >> info I needed via searching... >> >> I have an idea for a small utility that would work great in the menu bar >> in OS X (like the volume control or display control).
