So far as I can tell, not one response has answered the question!

The request was for a program that would read in a sound file (SND),
then do the FFT.

I have a program that will create a sound file using the built-in mike.

What I need is something like the original poster requested (read SND file,
do FFT) 
OR
a utility that will read a SND file and convert it to ascii.  Once in
ascii format, as many have noted, there are scads of programs that will
read it and do an FFT on it.
