: Oh yeah..I thought I was the only one with this problem. It does it on
: both my desktop machine and my PB520c. One time I was going to the
: bathroom at 3:00am and I heard my modem dialing...what the hell? :)
: Almost every morning after my computer dialed it has a "Idle Timeout PPP"
: dialog so it dials, connects then times out. It's really annoying..kinda
: like it has a mind of it's own. It doesn't seem to be consistent. It
: doesn't dial at any specific time, and sometimes it keeps dialing and
: dialing after I say "QUIT" damn it "QUIT" until I just have to restart.
: That bug would be painful if your ISP charged you by the hour!
:

I've never experienced this problem, but can recommend something to try.

There's an application called MacPPP Timer, which, in addition to
performing a useful service (keeping track of how long you're logged on),
seems to perform an even "harder" close than the ConfigPPP "Hard Close"
button.

I'm at a loss to explain why this should be, but I had certain daemons
that would re-dial even after I did a hard close. Since I started using
MacPPP Timer, I've had no more problems.

I'm not sure where it's available (I think I got it from a user group) but
it's definitely worth looking for.
