A recent article in BYTE magazine suggested that using the
Desktop Manager could improve performance of Mac harddisks
with many files on them.
Some time ago, I tried to get this program from my Apple dealer,
because I needed it to try out the shareware AppleShare-compatible
server program, SingleShaare.
Unfortunately, my dealer wouldn't give the Desktop Manager program
to me.
Can anybody tell me what is the current, official status of
Desktop Manager. Is it available to _every_ Mac user? Does one
have to buy it? Is it only available as part of the (very ex-
pensive) AppleShare program ?
Any information on the topic would be helpful.
Thanks
