DiskExpress, NUM, others ? I don't know of any PD/SW defragmenters, but I want to second the recommendation of DiskExpress. There have been three cases where my Mac crashed in the middle of a compact operation; when I rebooted, DE told me what file it was working on and that that file just might be corrupt. It has yet to have actually corrupted a file for me, however. It's safe, AND effective.
