	This is a prototype, and you can't declare prototypes as "static". 
We've heard a lot about this, but I don't know Mike's plans for it.

If you want to prototype a static function, try this:

long myfunc(int arg1, char *arg2);	/* the prototype */

static long myfunc(arg1, arg2)		/* the static function itself */
int arg1;
char *arg2;
