I'm interested in any comments and experiences you might have on the
Apple optical scanner, scanners in general, and scanner software.

Specifically, I would like to know what your hardware and software
setup is and what you use the scanner for. The primary use I'm
thinking about is for scanning figures from journals (like graphs,
figures, photos) to be included in reports but I'm also interested in
OCR packages like Omnipage.

Some of the issues I'm interested in are: (but not limited to)

minimum computer configuration (ie do you need a Mac II for
				        the speed)
software packages and RAM requirements by these packages
which paint/draw type programs accept PICT/TIFF formats.

I will summarize any emailed responses and repost. Thanks much.
