MacTeX questions

#37268

I have two questions about MacTeX. (I do not have the manual, so I can't look
these up on my own.)

1. How do you run LaTeX from MacTeX? I have the LaTeX fmt file, but no VIRTEX.

2. How can MacTeX files be ported to other machines? I see no "text only" save
options; are MacTeX documents really text files, or do is there some other
process for generating text files?

Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance,

Doug Meade
