I use Acta for everything. It's a powerful, handy Desk Accessory (the new
release has an application as well). It's not as powerful as More II, but I
use it for all my random information storage (address lists, todo lists, 
project lists, novel outlines, etc, etc ad nauseum).

This sounds like a job for HyperCard. Toss data into it, then use 'find'
commands to track it down. Filemaker II can do it as well with minimal
definitions.
