Something that might be cheaper is Idealiner, which was a Shareware
product last time I looked, but Acta is great.

I think something that would be better for Thomas's needs would be
QuickDEX, a desk accessory freeform database.  I don't know the
exact limits of it, but from what I read, a software company was
using it to keep customer records.
