I do believe that in some specific cases, the flow of information on viruses should be slowed or stopped. But these cases should be limited to actual source and discussions thereof. Several others have already posted rather toasty articles about why the net should work that way... I would like to point out that regardless of your position on this issue, you shouldn't be too concerned about these postings if you're worried about your Mac (this is, after all, a Mac group). George's articles, while accurate about the Atari, are NOT RELEVANT to the Mac at all. He seriously underestimates the degree of difference between different OSs and machines. For example, on the Mac it is easy to write both a "Shell" and an intrusive virus. nVIR is a shell (well, sort of), and ANTI is an intrusive virus (again, sort of). The funny thing about the Mac is that while it makes it very easy to write a virus, it also makes it (relatively) easy to detect and fix one. Alexis Rosen alexis@ccnysci.uucp
