older mac+ problem

A friend has an older style Mac plus. She has been trying to use a
Everex EMAC20DL hard drive and she has had constant problems. Finally
the tech support at Everex asked what color mac she had. They claimed
that the yellowish (older?) macs have problems with the SCSI ports and
that her mac might be the cause of the problem.

Has anyone else heard of this? Could this be the problem? If so is
there anything that can be done about it.

I would appreciate any information that anyone has on this. Please
email me since I am not a regular reader of the this group.

	Thanks in advance,	Jeff (jefft@ncsa.uiuc.edu)
