   Possibly your problem is in your network.  There were a couple of 
'weak' nodes in the Phonenet network in my old office.  The weather 
seemed to have something to do with it!  We had a good technician come 
in and add resisters in the right places -- presto, no more mysterious 
problems.  Might be worth a try
