Problem with Background Printing

A user in our department discovered the following problem.  When
printing a MS Word 4.0 document with included PostScript in the normal
fashion, everything works fine.  However, if the "Background Printing"
option is enabled, the included PostScript figure is printed
incorrectly.  It is printed, but several lines are screwed up.

2.5 Meg MacPlus
System 6.0.4
LaserWriter 5.2 (system software 6.0.3)
LaserPrep 5.2 (system software 6.0.3)
MS Word 4.0

Is this a known bug (feature)?  Or is there a problem with mixing
System 6.0.4 with previous drivers? If anyone has any knowledge of the
cause of this problem, please respond by e-mail.  If there is enough
interest, I'll summarize to the net.
